Kingwin XT-1264 HTC CPU Cooler Review

Wed 2009-09-02 - Posted by Patrick "MACMAC" MacMillan
Rbmods and TweakTown have reviewed the Kingwin XT-1264 HTC Series CPU cooler, which features Heat-Pipe Direct Touch technology.

Here's what they had to say:

  • Rbmods:

"In all, the Kingwin XT-1264 is a well rounded kit. It performs admirably against the Sunmbeamtech Core Contact Freezer, but doesn't compete well under load. Its ease of installation combined with its very quiet fan make it good package, but the lack of backplate in the installation package forces me to question the integrity of my motherboard. That, combined with the somewhat flimsly mounting clips for Intel hardware, drag down the package's value and prevent me from feeling completely confident in the cooler."

  • TweakTown:

"So, where does all this leave us? To me, I need to address a few things first to explain my angle on this. First, while it isn’t always needed, this cooler has no flash. There isn’t one thing that makes this cooler stand out in my mind. Second, while I know most things have been tried, some with greater success than others, with all the components of this cooler all packed in I would have expected a bit better performance. Lastly, I feel that a cooler that is shipped with a 101 CFM fan should be able to overtake most of its direct competition, but this time it just isn’t the case. "

This is an OK cooler, but for the same money you can buy the top-notch Cooler Master Hyper 212 Plus.
