CPU Cooler Review Roundup - Noctua, Titan, Zalman & More
Hardware Logic, Hardware Secrets, Modders-Inc, and XtremeComputing have reviewed CPU coolers from Noctua, Thermaltake, Titan, Xigmatek, and Zalman.
Let's see what they had to say:
- Hardware Logic: Zalman CNPS10X Extreme CPU Cooler Review:
"The CNPS10X Extreme marks a departure for Zalman from what we would argue has become a tired design. We've seen the circular, copper blueprint recycled through several iterations and the new design is a nice change of pace. The first thing you'll notice is how large the CNPS10X is, followed an attractive nickel-plated finish.
We're also impressed with the wide range of platform compatibility that comes included out of the box. It doesn't matter if you're still stuck in the tech stone age with a socket 754 setup or are looking for a cooler for your upcoming Core i5 build, the CNPS10X will oblige in both cases, and every socket in between."

- Hardware Secrets: Noctua NH-C12P CPU Cooler Review:
"With the CPU idle NH-C12P was pretty efficient. Unfortunately at full load the performance from the reviewed cooler was not good, being very inferior to NH-U12P. It was not as bad as Thermaltake ISGC-100, but it performed worse than the other coolers we tested so far.
Considering it is a relatively expensive cooler - costing more than NH-U12P (which provides a higher performance) - we cannot recommend buying Noctua NH-C12P, unless your case is too narrow to fit a tower-design cooler and your CPU doesn't get very hot."

- Hardware Secrets: Thermaltake ISGC-200 CPU Cooler Review:
"We were very wary before testing Thermaltake ISGC-200, because of the low performance achieved by the smaller cooler from this series, ISGC-100. Our results, however, show that ISGC-200 is far better than its "little brother" on cooling performance. Besides that, it is quieter, even though they use the same fan, probably because of the sandwich design.
Its cooling performance is good, but not as good as the best coolers we tested so far. Even so it won'tt burn your CPU, even when it is overclocked."

- Modders-Inc: Xigmatek Thor's Hammer HDT-S126384 CPU Cooler Review:
"Add to that the fact that this cooler has plenty of options available to you including the ability to add duel fans, the Anti-vibration rubber fan silencers, and compatibility with a wide range of AMD and Intel Cores. This cooler not only had the looks but it also has the performance as well. The Thor can keep up with the big boys in the world of cooling and do it looking really slick. In fact it's really hard to find a bad thing to say about the cooler other than the fact that it doesn't come with any fans. This isn't completely unusual as there are other manufactures that do this. It is also being advertised as a passive cooler to some extent. Still for the price it would be nice to throw in a fan."

- XtremeComputing: Titan Fenrir (TTC-NK85TZ) CPU Cooler Review:
"The top features the Fenrir’s own logo – what seems to be a very angry wolf, somewhat confirmed by Wikipedia as a “Fenrir” is essentially a mythical “monstrous wolf”. The tops of the 4 U-shaped heatpipes are also visible. The general feel of the Fenrir is a well put together heatsink, there do not appear to be any sharp edges which is reassuring considering the amount of cuts I have encountered whilst installing other HSFs!"
