In Win X-Fighter Mid-Tower Case Review

Fri 2009-09-04 - Posted by Patrick "MACMAC" MacMillan
Modders-Inc, Tech-Reviews, and ThinkComputers have reviewed the In Win X-Fighter AL-13 Series mid-tower case.

Let's see what they had to say:

  • Modders-Inc:

"Overall the In Win X-Fighter is a nice looking chassis that offers some great features. I do feel that it is a bit limiting on what hardware can be installed. As I noted, I installed IDE drives and had to source my own brackets to get by. It also accepted a larger PSU which was nice. I don't think I would try to build a full on gaming rig in the X-Fighter though. Tossing in a couple of the longer video cards as well as extra hard drives for game storage would give us a ton more cables to deal with and even less room to do it in. Now if your planning on doing a Micro ATX build in it, and you're not pushing the latest monstrous video card the X-Fighter would be and admirable selection. The In Win X-Fighter is currently listed for 135.99 @ New Egg which to me seems a little pricey. Even though it has some nice unique features, I have a feeling consumers might pass on it to save a few bucks."

  • Tech-Reviews:

"For around £75 you can pick the X-Fighter up from many online stores. The case itself is designed mainly for gamers and Star Wars fans due its relation to the films.

The X-Fighter has a great deal of features that make it even more desirable including the red LED’s on the front, the slanted drive bay panels, the VGA Turbo cooling system and tool-less features. With all of these features, even if you don’t like Star Wars or aren’t a gamer this case would still satisfy your needs with the build quality and looks alone.

There are certain areas that need improvement such as the cooling system, maybe there could be something so it could be removed a little easier because trying to install a motherboard is not easy when you have a massive cooling system blocking your access and view. Also, the removal of the front panel is a little annoying."

  • ThinkComputers:

"Overall the In Win X-Fighter is sure to please the avid Star Wars fan. It has a unique external figure which gives it its spacecraft design. There are plenty of methods implemented into this case to make it easy to install and use. This is the first case, that I've reviewed, that has had two external eSATA ports, a nice side benefit to the cooling and unique design. The X-Fighter can be found online anywhere between $115-$145, which is pretty pricey for a Mid Tower case. If you're looking for that spacecraft look the In Win X-fighter would be a wise choice. Overall ThinkComputers awards the In Win X-Fighter Mid Tower Case an 8 out of 10 score."

This case looks too much like a plasticky toy to me, however the aesthetics are really a matter of personal preference.
