620W-950W Power Supply Review Roundup
Bigbruin, Driverheaven, Hardware Secrets, JonnyGURU, PC Perspective, and ThinkComputers have reviewed a few 620W to 950W power supplies from the likes of
Corsair, Enermax, PC Power & Cooling, Seasonic, and SilverStone. These are some of the very best PSU models on the market right now, so if you are willing to pay for quality, definitely check out these reviews.
Let's see what they had to say:
- Bigbruin: Seasonic S12D 750W Power Supply Review:
"After many hours of testing, the Seasonic S12D 750W power supply seems like a pretty solid unit. It even bested a popular 80 Plus certified PC Power & Cooling unit rated for the same total power. The S12D 750W is solidly built, very quiet under load, and considerably smaller than its PC Power & Cooling counterpart. The plethora of SATA and Molex connectors, in addition to the cable lengths, make this perfect for just about any build. The addition of the 8-pin EPS connector and the 4+4-pin ATX connector make this versatile enough for everything from a simple desktop up to an enterprise server. Even with a Core i7 CPU and two GeForce GTX 260s in SLI we couldn't begin to push the envelope on this unit. The Seasonic S12D should provide many years of quiet, stable power. Its 5-year warranty seems to be right on par with the rest of the competition."

- Driverheaven: Enermax ECO 80+ 620W PSU Review:
"The Enermax Eco 80+ 620W is an excellent mainstream product – the overall performance is excellent and it is one of the most efficient products in its class. It would be an excellent choice for typical home PCs and everyday gaming systems and users with powerful office PCs will love this unit as well. We can recommend the Eco 80+ to any user who wants a reliable and efficient PSU if you can find a good price via an online store."

- Hardware Secrets: Seasonic X-Series 650 W Power Supply Review:
"What a power supply! What a power supply! For the first time we can say that we found a flawless 650 W power supply. It presents efficiency of 90%, meaning that it consumes less energy from the wall, meaning a lower electricity bill for you. Voltages are within 3% from their nominal values, meaning that they are closer to their “correct” values than allowed (5% is the standard tolerance). And ultra-low ripple and noise levels, which means this power supply won’t overload the capacitors from the voltage regulator circuit from your motherboard or video card and will also prevent you system from producing random errors due to low-quality voltages."

- Hardware Secrets: SilverStone Element ST75EF 750 W Power Supply Review:
"Since we gave Seventeam ST-750P-AF our Golden Award seal, we don’t see why not giving it to Element ST75EF as well: it presents decent 83%-84% efficiency is you pull between 40% and 60% from its labeled capacity (i.e. between 150 W and 450 W). In fact Element ST75EF performed better than the Seventeam ST-750P-AF on voltage regulation and ripple and noise, plus it comes with more video card cables, allowing you to install two high-end video cards under SLI/CrossFire mode without the use of adaptors – what doesn’t happen with the model from Seventeam."

- JonnyGURU: Corsair TX950 950W PSU Review:
"At this point, I'm starting to believe Corsair couldn't produce a turkey if they tried to. As is the case with every other Corsair unit I've tested, the TX950W has come out a winner. It's a big bad 950 watt unit for an affordable price with nice stable voltage regulation and excellent efficiency. If you're not into modular, what more could you ask for?"

- PC Perspective: PC Power & Cooling Silencer 910 Power Supply Review:
"The new PC Power & Cooling Silencer 910W power supply demonstrated excellent voltage regulation, very good efficiency and produced exceptionally clean outputs. The Silencer 910 can deliver up to 74A (888W) of +12V continuous power at up to 50°C operating temperature and can support dual, high-end video cards with four PCI-E connectors. The build quality of the 910 power supply is excellent and it is backed by PC Power & Cooling’s 5-year warranty and tech support. The only down-side I could find with the Silencer 910 is the name is a bit misleading.
The Silencer 910 power supply is currently available and can frequently be found selling for less than $200 USD, which makes it a good value."

- ThinkComputers: Seasonic S12D 850W Power Supply Review:
"This is one rock solid power supply. I've seen few PSUs as stable as this one. It may not look like much, but who cares? It's a power supply. PSUs are generally hidden from view even inside windowed rigs. I think the biggest drawback to the S12D is the fact that it's not a modular power supply. The medusa-like bush of power snakes is unattractive to most enthusiasts these days, but there are certainly some out there who would rather eke out every bit of efficiency and exercise their cable management skills at the same time."

Everyone of these power supplies is excellent, so you really can't go wrong!
