ASUS P7P55D Deluxe & EVO Motherboard Reviews

Tue 2009-11-03 - Posted by Patrick "MACMAC" MacMillan
Benchmark Reviews and PureOverclock have reviewed two ASUS P7P55D series motherboards, the Deluxe and EVO models.

Here's what they had to say:

  • Benchmark Reviews: ASUS P7P55D EVO P55 LGA1156 Motherboard Review:

"ASUS' attention to detail extends to construction quality as well. The P7P55D EVO installed easily and performed flawlessly throughout all of our benchmarks. High quality components like solid conductive polymer capacitors, low RDS (on) MOSFETs, and ferrite core chokes, should provide years of stable power. Should anything come up, though, the EVO is backed by a three year warranty.

When it comes motherboards, functionality is also an important consideration and the P7P55D EVO has quite a bit to offer. Thanks to the Q-Design features, installation was a breeze. I particularly like the Q-Shield and Q-LEDs. With the board installed, ASUS' TurboV EVO chip and MemOK! features offer added convenience when overclocking."

  • PureOverclock: ASUS P7P55D Deluxe LGA1156 Motherboard Review:

"In terms of price, this is really the only detraction on what is otherwise an impressive product. Premium boards come with premium prices, that is to be expected, but at $220 USD, the P7P55D Deluxe is in a bit of an awkward price point. For only $30 more you can jump up to an ASUS Republic of Gamers Maximus Formula III board that is truly geared to the diehard enthusiasts. And for $25 less than the Deluxe here, you can drop down to the P7P55D EVO version that comes with just about everything except the TurboV remote, which many people may not find necessary. There are also some competing products from other manufacturers that make big claims, so depending on your penchant for testing the motherboard waters, you may find something better suits your personal tastes. However, we've seen two other P55 boards so far (one budget and one premium), and neither measure up to the P7P55D Deluxe."

The P7P55D series is a remarkably strong product line, and these are two great examples of that. For my money, the EVO is definitely the better value, since the TurboV Remote is really more of a novelty item.
