AMD Radeon HD 5750 & HD 5770 Graphics Card Reviews

Thu 2009-11-05 - Posted by Patrick "MACMAC" MacMillan
Benchmark Reviews, Bigbruin, PureOverclock, and TweakTown have reviewed AMD Radeon HD 5750 and HD 5770 1GB graphics cards from HIS, Sapphire, and XFX.

Let's see what they had to say:

  • Benchmark Reviews: XFX Radeon HD 5770 Video Card Review:

"The XFX Radeon HD5770 earns a Silver Tachometer Award, because it fills an important slot in the graphics card middle ground at a price that most casual users won't have to think too hard about. With the launch of Windows 7 and its DirectX 11 interface, anyone who wants to take advantage of the advanced features becoming more prevalent in the next 4-6 months needs new hardware. If you're shopping in this price range, the HD5770 is the only card to get; every other choice is going to cost more or do less."

  • Bigbruin: Sapphire Radeon HD5750 1GB Graphics Card Review:

"Where to begin? The Sapphire Radeon HD5750 1GB graphics card does a lot of things better than you might expect from a 'mid-level' card. This isn't a top of the line gaming card, but it is does offer enough muscle to make games enjoyable even with the settings turned up pretty high. And like I said earlier, going CrossFire with a pair of these cards might not be the most economical option, but it could make sense if you had the money for one now and then were able to pick one up a few months from now at a discount."

  • PureOverclock: Sapphire Radeon HD5750 Graphics Card Review:

"The Sapphire Radeon 5750 is a card that offers a very compelling argument to consumers; it offers very respectable performance in most of today's hottest games, runs cool and quiet, draws little power, and is priced very attractively; that is an excellent combination regardless how you look at it. There are really only a couple of drawbacks here: first, the cooler doesn't vent warm air outside the rear of the case (but that's not a terribly big issue because the 5750 doesn't run very hot anyways), and second, the performance will struggle if you plan on running games at 1920 resolution (which is expected) since it cannot match the horsepower of the 5800 series cards."

  • TweakTown: HIS Radeon HD 5770 1GB Video Card in CrossFire:

"If you're looking for a HD 5770, the HIS version is one worth looking at. More importantly, don't let anyone tell you that using CrossFire on these mid-range cards is a waste of money, because the bottom line is the ‘buy one now’ and ‘another in the future’ idea helps lessen the blow on your account while still offering great performance. In this case it’s performance that is better than a single HD 5850."

Much like the HD 5800 series, the HD 5700 series is a wonderful new offering in the GPU market, and terrific upgrade choice for those with $200 to spend.
