Intel P55 Mobo Reviews - ASUS, ECS, Intel, MSI
Hardware Secrets, PC Perspective, t-break, and TechSpot have reviewed various Intel P55-based motherboards from the likes of ASUS, ECS, Intel, and MSI.
Let's see what they had to say:
- Hardware Secrets: MSI P55-GD80 Motherboard Review:
"MSI P55-GD80 is an outstanding high-end motherboard for the socket 1156 platform, with tons of advanced features: three x16 PCI Express slots (although the third one works at x4 and the first two work at x8 when more than one video card is installed), support for both SLI and CrossFire modes, professional-grade on-board audio with terrific signal-to-noise ratio and on-board SPDIF connectors, thicker heat-pipe, high-end voltage regulator circuit, it automatically turns off unnecessary phases from the voltage regulator circuit for best efficiency and shows how many phases are being used at any given moment thru an LED display, and much more."

- PC Perspective: Intel DP55KG P55 Lynnfield Motherboard Review:
"We'd like to thank our friends at Intel for providing the DP55KG for our review today. This is one of the first available boards that utilize the P55 chipset and support the LGA 1156 socket and we couldn't have been more impressed with the overall performance results we experienced using this board. It didn't matter if we were running gaming benchmarks, multimedia tests, or overclocking, the DP55KG seemed to have a balanced approach to providing the user more than enough power and performance when doing any of these operations using this motherboard.
If we had suggestions for improvement, we would definitely want more overclocking functionality in Intel's custom BIOS. The new Desktop Control Center was definitely handy, but putting more functionality in the BIOS for tweaking voltages and timings would have helped us achieve greater overclocks and stability."

- t-break: ECS P55H-A Motherboard Review:
"The ECS P55H-A motherboard offers a good range of features, the package is good enough to build up a system with it despite being simplistic, the onboard debug LED is an excellent addition to this motherboard and helps the user quickly troubleshoot any problems that may arise.
Performance is about the same as the MSI P55 motherboard we compared it with and the couple of niggles will probably be fixed with BIOS updates."

- TechSpot: Asus P7P55D Deluxe Motherboard Review:
"In terms of features the Asus P7P55D Deluxe gets away with offering just enough for a $220 motherboard in our opinion. This “Deluxe” motherboard doesn't present anything overly striking, though it stacks up well against competing products from the likes of MSI, EVGA and Gigabyte.
The power consumption figures recorded with the Asus P7P55D Deluxe were impressive, and when compared to the MSI P55-GD65 they were significantly lower, even when under full load.
The P7P55D Deluxe's overclocking abilities are second to none."

There really aren't any bad or even mediocre P55 motherboards in the mainstream & high-end segments, so no matter what model you pick you should have a pleasant experience.
