Antec Case Reviews - P193, Skeleton, Two Hundred

Tue 2009-11-17 - Posted by Patrick "MACMAC" MacMillan
EXTREME Overclocking, Hardware Secrets, LanOC Reviews, TechwareLabs, Tweaknews, and TweakTown have reviewed various PC cases from industry veteran Antec.

Let's see what they had to say:

  • EXTREME Overclocking: Antec Sonata Elite Mid Tower Chassis Review:

"The Antec Sonata Elite case was an almost perfectly designed silent chassis. With the exception of the drive rails the whole build went extremely smooth. Antec is always striving to improve their already great quality line of cases; the Sonata Elite is no exception. The piano gloss black paint looks sleek, and the case makes for a great workstation. The fact that the fan speeds are adjustable makes more versatile than other silent or quiet cases on the market. At the time of this review at average retail price for this case is $99.99, a fair price for silence and a high quality chassis. Using this case, with the fans on medium or low, makes for a truly quiet computing experience without sacrificing cooling."

  • Hardware Secrets: Antec Two Hundred Case Review:

"Antec Two Hundred is a mid-tower case targeted to the user that wants an inexpensive mid-tower case with some interesting features.

Although very well priced, other products on the same price range may offer a better selection of features for the average user, like Cooler Master Gladiator 600 and NZXT M59 – unless, of course, you can’t live without the external hot-swap bay."

  • LanOC Reviews: Antec Two Hundred:

"A stylish, quality gaming case with plenty of room to expand, intuitive extra features (such as the installed hot-swap caddy), and portability, the Antec 200 truly helps to get the most out of your money. The only flaw is the case's inability to reduce much of the hardware's operating noise, and depending on preference this may be no issue or a huge one. Though it should be obvious to anyone that the perks of this enclosure far outweight the downside. With a total of five fans, two USB 2.0 on the front panel, ten drive bays, and seven expansion slots, Antec put it best when they said 'the Two Hundred's got it all.' No arguments here."

  • TechwareLabs: Antec P193 Computer Case:

"I’ve had an abiding affection for Antec’s Performance One series of cases ever since the first P180 came out, and the P193 only reaffirms it. “Enthusiast” cases are usually flashy, loud and attention-grabbing; the P193 and its cousins are anything but. If you’re looking for a case that will take your noisy beast of a PC and swallow it into a cold, black pit of silence, this is the case for you. From fit and finish to raw performance, this case excels in all areas. At a MSRP of $199, it is definitely on the high-end of the price scale, but is easily worth every penny."

  • Tweaknews: Antec Skeleton Open Air Computer Case Review:

"The Skeleton has been selling well and is widely available online for around $140-$150 US. While not cheap, its quality construction, rich feature set, outstanding performance and innovative design easily justify the somewhat steep price tag, despite some shortcomings. For an extra $60, Antec can supply a set of mesh panels that will provide a bit more protection for the installed hardware (see it HERE . ) Antec's Skeleton chassis isn't for everyone, but it occupies a lofty place in its own niche market and certainly deserves consideration when choosing your next case."

  • TweakTown: Antec Mini Skeleton-90 Open Air Mini-ITX Case:

"All things considered, I am left with an overwhelming feeling of novelty. While it is an attractive piece of hardware, the sheer size of things makes it really impractical, unless you are building the system around this chassis from the start. My thoughts are this; if you are building a mITX system, it’s usually HTPC or browsing / e-mail builds. This puts them, most likely, in higher traffic areas. The open air design is great to look at, but one mistake of a spilled drink, or mischievous children’s hands, I think the novelty will quickly wear off. The asking price for the Antec Mini Skeleton-90 is currently $109.99 at Newegg, plus shipping. Once I got passed the cute factor, the pricing for this product is a tad high for my wallet."
