Gaming Mice Review Roundup - CM, OCZ, SteelSeries & More
Hardware Secrets, OCModShop, Virtual-Hideout, and XtremeComputing have reviewed various gaming mice from Cooler Master, OCZ, SilverStone, and SteelSeries.
Let's see what they had to say:
- Hardware Secrets: Cooler Master Storm Sentinel Advance Mouse Review:
"We tested the mouse primarily playing AVA (Korean FPS Alliance of Valiant Arms) and World of Warcraft. The body design allowed for several hours of comfortable and precise gaming. The eight programmable buttons were used to the fullest and even lead to unusual situations, like experimenting to assign the Rapid Fire function to the main left click button, leaving regular shooting to button 4 above the thumb rest. We could check the current DPI setting through the OLED display and there was no need to turn the mouse upside down to change profiles since the button for it was near the scroll wheel. Overall we were very excited about such an excellent gaming mouse coming from a first timer as Cooler Master."

- OCModShop: Silverstone Raven 3200dpi Gaming Mouse Review:
"The SilverStone Raven Gaming Mouse has the potential for a great gaming mouse. It supports multiple profiles, a neat OLED display, a high DPI rate, and it just looks cool. Unfortunately one of the design choices made greatly affects how usable the mouse is... and that is the big-ass thumb wheel and thumb button. The wheel is absolutely useless and the button is too sensitive, so you will avoid gripping it like you normally would. This alteration of how you hold the mouse means that you push with your entire arm rather than your wrist, which throws off any precision you were hoping to get with the high DPI."

- Virtual-Hideout: OCZ Eclipse Double Laser Gaming Mouse Review:
"Overall, the OCZ Eclipse turns out to be a very formidable gaming mouse. It has all the fundamentals - a precise laser tracking engine, a comfortable feel and on-the-fly DPI settings in hardware. It adds to this a customizable weight tuning system and customized button settings saved to the mouse itself. (so no software is required on the host PC) These features help it stand apart from the many other gaming mice that exist today. When taken into account with the price, (below $30 street price) the OCZ Eclipse Gaming Mouse becomes hard to ignore."

- XtremeComputing: SteelSeries Ikari Optical Gaming Mouse Review:
"This mouse is truly in a league of its own. When I first found out I was getting a mouse which holds a RRP of £69.99, I thought it would just be a hyped-up piece of junk much like.
However the more I have used this mouse, the more I have loved it. It has seen me package up my Logitech G9 (which is a very respectable gaming mouse indeed), and quashed my original anticipation of an over-hyped giblet. This mouse is definitely worth the cost, and if you want the best gaming mouse around, I would recommend this one (well, not the one I've got - I'm keeping it!!!). The DPI switch is quite useful, and the ability to program Macros to buttons on your mice is very helpful - especially in online gameplay."
