AMD Athlon II X3 435 Triple-Core CPU Review

Mon 2009-11-23 - Posted by Patrick "MACMAC" MacMillan
Rbmods have posted a review of the AMD Athlon II X3 435, a budget-oriented triple-core processor featuring a 2.9Ghz core clock and 1.5MB L2 cache.

Here's what they had to say:

"This cpu can be bought for about 80$ but is it worth it? I would personally go for the 620 which cost 20$ more but performs a bit better. You can overclock this unit though to the same speeds and it might even be possible to unlock a fourth core, I have not looked into that at this stage.

I fail to see the reason why they are releasing so many Athlon 2 versions to the market they perform quite similar but I guess they want people to have a few choices. Overall though it performed quite stable and overclocks decent."

This is a nice budget processor, but I still think that it's worth spending $10-15 more on the quad-core Athlon II X4 620, or even trying to unlock the additional cores on a Phenom II X2 545 or 550, both of which feature 6MB of L3 cache.
