Crucial Ballistix Tracer 6GB DDR3-1600 Memory Kit Review

Wed 2009-12-02 - Posted by Patrick "MACMAC" MacMillan
Extreme Overclocking have posted a review of the Crucial Ballistix Tracer 6GB DDR3-1600 memory kit, which sports 8-8-8 timings at 1.65V.

Here's what they had to say:

"With a cost around $185 USD (according to Newegg), Crucial's Ballistix Tracer 6GB 1600 MHz kit are priced in the same ballpark as other memory with the same timings and capacity. There is a little price premium for the tracer LEDs, but they are really cool for people that like to show off their PC. The LED activity is really quite mesmerizing, it feels like you are watching your computer think.

As mentioned before Crucial also sells the same kits except at 1333 MHz speeds, they are about $30 cheaper. If you are really trying to stick to a budget and save some money then it might be the way to go. However, if you are going to do some serious overclocking I highly recommend the 1600 MHz modules."

Due to their twinkly LEDs these are arguably some of the best looking modules on the market, and are ideal for anyone trying to make a statement with their windowed PC case.
