Cooler Master HAF 912 Case Reviews

Wed 2010-09-08 - Posted by Patrick "MACMAC" MacMillan
Benchmark Reviews, Hardware Canucks, LanOC Reviews, and OCIA have posted a review of the brand new Cooler Master HAF 912 mid-tower case which was just shown off at the recent PAX 2010 gamer festival.

Let's see what they had to say:

  • Benchmark Reviews:

"At launch the HAF 912 is expected to retail for $59.99. This price is at the lower range for respectable mid-tower cases, but there are an overwhelming number of cases at this competitive price point. Most of the cases in this range use a very standard arrangement of PCI slots and one tall array of drive bays at the front. Most of the differences between cases in this range are the exterior looks and number / size of fans. There are few exceptions to this trend, and the HAF 912 stands out in this regard. One other major difference worth pointing out is the construction quality. Other sixty dollar cases have an almost flimsy feel in the motherboard tray and hard drive cages, but the HAF 912 is rock solid and well crafted for it's price. It is definitely above average. About the only things keeping the HAF 912 from the top spot are the need for more tool-less features and more air flow."

  • Hardware Canucks:

"In the sub-$100 case market, there seem to be a lot of perfectly good promises but very few products end up delivering. There are some however that stand out from the competition by offering high-end features in a price bracket that will appeal to nearly everyone Cooler Master has now released the latest in their HAF series which takes a dive into this highly competitive price point: the 912 which only costs $60.

Unlike other low end enclosures, this one sticks to the tried, tested and true formula of high quality construction and sensible design decisions that Cooler Master has come to personify with their latest products. In this video review, we take a look to see if the HAF 912 can buck the tradition of disappointing sub-$100 cases and take its place as on of the better mid-towers currently on the market."

  • LanOC Reviews:

"Until the release of the 912, price-point may have been the most restrictive aspect of the HAF series. When a company attempts to create a cost-friendly version of any product, there are countless ways to do it wrong. Staying true to the rugged look, airflow, and water-cooling capacities, it's safe to say Cooler Master has successfully brought the HAF line to the budget-minded user."

  • OCIA:

"MSRP for the HAF 912 is $59.99, placing it in the bargain basement as far as costs go. With many of the recent mid-tower cases we've reviewed lately pushing the $100 mark, the HAF 912 offers a lot of potential for a very small price. Of course you will have to figure in the cost of adding additional fans if you want them, however this allows the user to customize the case how they want.
OCIA.net awards the Cooler Master HAF 912 our Gold Seal of Approval."

This is a fairly decent case, but frankly I find the equally new and cheaper SilverStone Precision PS05B to be even better.
