Gaming Mouse Review Roundup - Cooler Master, Cybord, Razer & More

Thu 2012-02-02 - Posted by Patrick "MACMAC" MacMillan
APH Networks, HardwareHeaven, Rbmods, and Real World Labs have reviewed a few gaming mice from Cooler Master, Cyborg, Epic Gear, Razer, and Thermaltake.

Let's see what they had to say:

  • APH Networks: Cooler Master Storm Xornet Optical Mouse Review:

"When I heard the price tag of $30 at press time, my jaw dropped. When I heard it was on sale for $20 at few weeks ago, well I almost had a heart attack at how unbelievable something so ergonomic and accurate could be priced that low. In fact, I would suggest anyone who needs a new mouse to pick up a Cooler Master Storm Xornet when you have a chance. While the mouse is marketed towards gamers, this mouse would be absolutely astonishing for even basic office tasks, because of the unprecedented level of comfort offered for people with claw-type grips."

  • HardwareHeaven: Cyborg M.M.O. 7 Gaming Mouse Review:

"Cyborg gaming also provides a World of WarCraft add on, that enabled us to drag and drop spells, inventory items directly to the buttons of the mouse. The add on allows us to do this on the fly, we can just jump in and create the configuration that best suits our needs without having to change any of our action bar settings.

The performance of the M.M.O. 7 is excellent, regardless of the type of game we were playing. The optical sensor tracks very well and the M.M.O. 7 glides smoothly across our desktop. The M.M.O. 7 is comfortable to use out the box, though best results are obtained when we took the time to set the mouse to suit our grip style and hand positioning."

  • HardwareHeaven: Epic Gear Meduza Gaming Mouse Review:

"The Meduza can function as a plug and play device but to avoid any issues and ensure the mouse performs as designed it is best to install the latest Epic Gear driver and software. Installing the Meduza application software is a quick, straight forward and easy process and allows us to customise the mouse buttons, sensor and profiles without issue.

On a hardware level the Meduza is without doubt one of the most comfortable mice we have used. Clearly meant for right handed users it suits claw and palm grips and feels solid in the hand thanks to a decent weight and soft touch sides. It is also has an accurate smooth glide thanks to decent low friction feet, an aspect which is enhanced by the use of Epic Gear's own gaming surface."

  • Rbmods: CM Storm Xornet Gaming Mouse:

"After testing this mouse for a few days I feel comfortable giving it a rating, as the mouse performs great. We got an average 900HZ from Mouse rate tester, which is plenty for gaming and normal use. I think this mouse has a market with females or gamers on the go, it doesn’t weigh much so it’s a good mouse to have during your travels. If you prefer heavier mice during gaming though this will not be something for you.

Each side of the mouse has anti slip covering so you won’t slip during game, and the top buttons allow you to change DPI on the fly while the thumb buttons allow you to change polling rates."

  • Rbmods: Razer Imperator Battlefield 3 Edition Gaming Mouse:

"The Imperator is a great mouse, I have been comparing it vs the Steelseries Xai for a while now and noticed that both are excellent mice with one minor difference. The Imperator is actually a bit louder to move on our mousepads that we have used. The Xai is almost silent while the Imperator makes a noise while you move it over our Qpad mousepads.

Otherwise the mouse works great during gaming and normal usage, the Battlefield 3 logo ads a cool look to it also but I don’t know if it’s worth the extra dollars that it costs compared to the earlier Imperator."

  • Real World Labs: Tt eSPORTS THERON Gaming Mouse Reviewþ:

"Overall the THERON Gaming Mouse by TteSports is not only a very good unit but it's also amongst the best ones I’ve ever used and so i doubt there's anyone out there who will be disappointed by its accuracy, speed, grip, build quality and design and that's why we are awarding it with our Editors Real Choice Award."
