Usage & Distribution Guidelines

These guidelines contain important information about using and distributing SPMark. Please consult the appropriate guide below before distributing the software or publishing results. If you have any questions related to these matters, please contact us!

Testing guidelines

For reliable benchmarking, we highly recommend that you familiarize yourself with these testing guidelines:

• Restart the phone before running benchmark.
• Exit all other programs.
• Wait 2 minutes before starting SPMark to make sure all startup related tasks are finished
• Disable all additional network connections (e.g. Bluetooth).
• Don't move the phone while benchmarking. Background network activity may affect results as polling available network cells take some of the phone's resources.
• Ensure nothing intercepts the benchmark run, for example divert the incoming calls while benchmarking.
• For the best results, use a "clean" phone for benchmarking i.e. no additional applications installed, no contacts in the contact database or calendar entries etc. If the phone is not "clean", the results may be lower.
• Ensure the battery is full and not charging when starting the benchmark run.
• Follow a standard testing procedure each time you run the tests. Run the tests at least three times to verify that the results are reproducible.

Publishing benchmark results

Only SPMark Business Edition and Developers' Edition licenses allow you to publish benchmark results in any media or publication. Make sure that you follow instructions set forth in the license agreement and in our testing guidelines. Also, include the official SPMark logo with a link or referral to Futuremark.

Default scores

In order to keep the reported scores comparable, we highly recommend that you use the default settings as a reference point. Referring to the default settings will make comprehending the results easier for the mainstream end users who have unregistered versions of SPMark installed on their systems.

Distribution guidelines

SPMark04, SPMark or parts of those can not be distributed without a specific written permission from Futuremark.
