The tests in SPMark are described here. For more information about SPMark, benchmarking and the tests, please see the SPMark for Symbian OS v9 whitepaper available on the SPMark website: SPMark 3D Game testThe 3D Game test runs a game scene and measures the system’s capabilities of drawing complex 3D content. The result is reported as frames processed per second. 3D FillRate testThe 3D FillRate test measures the capability of drawing textures to 3D objects. The test applies two textures on a surface as fast as possible. The result is reported as million texture elements per second (MTexels/s). 3D PolyCount testThe 3D PolyCount test measures the 3D polygon drawing performance by drawing a scene with excessive amount of polygons as fast as possible. The result is reported as thousand triangles processed per second (Ktriangles/s). 2D Image testMasked bitmap images are drawn on the screen as fast as possible. The result is reported as frames processed per second (fps). Image Scaling testImage Scaling test converts an image to image and mask bitmaps and then makes 15 scaled versions of these. The result is reported as images processed per second (bitmaps/s). JPEG EncodingThe JPEG encoding test compresses a test image to three different JPEG compression levels. The result is reported as thousand pixels processed per second (Kpixels/s). Contacts testThe Contacts test creates 30 contact entries and measures the time for these operations. The entries are deleted after the test. The result is given as operations performed per second (contacts/s). Calendar testThe Calendar test creates 40 events to a test calendar database and the time for the operations is measured. The result is reported as events processed per second (events/s). Disk Access testThe Disk Access test creates, opens, edits, closes and deletes 100 files on the disk. The time for doing the operations is measured and the result is reported as file operations performed per second (files/s). Battery testThe default Battery test runs all the tests in a loop until the battery is empty. The test reports the SPMark battery score, the time to empty the battery (hours and minutes) and the amount of loops performed during the test. You can also create your own Battery Test suite. Note that when running your own test suite, no scores are reported. |
