Senior 3D Designer

Based in Espoo, Finland | Posted March 4, 2016

Tell us if this sounds familiar. You've loved video games since you were little. You grew up, trained as an artist, and landed a dream job that combined your passion for games with your talent as an artist.

But then it all went a bit wrong. Instead of creating fantastic, original worlds, you've spent the last few years drawing sprites and sculpting low poly models for mobile games.

We're here to tell you that there is hope! Our mission is to open eyes, drop jaws, and make players shout, "Why can't all games look this good?"

We're looking for a Senior 3D Designer with exceptional creativity and drive to join our team. You may know us as the creators of 3DMark, the world's most popular benchmark for gamers.

As a 3D Designer at Futuremark, you will design and create new benchmark scenes to test the performance limits of the latest graphics cards, smartphones, tablets and VR headsets.

Together with our programmers, you'll use the latest techniques in real-time rendering to bring your ideas to life. Thanks to our partnerships with world-class companies you will be creating art for new APIs and platforms long before they are available to the public.

DirectX 12? We're working with that. Vulkan? Yep, that too. Virtual reality? We have all the toys! Whether for PC or mobile, we're always designing for the future.

You've been a professional 3D Designer for five or more years, with an emphasis on game graphics production and real-time rendering. Your portfolio demonstrates your talent and imagination applied to modelling and texturing. Experience with character rigging, camera direction and animation is preferred. And knowledge of high-end techniques such as physically-based rendering is desirable.

Using professional 3D modeling, texturing, sculpting and animation tools is second nature to you. Level editors are a piece of cake and naturally you are comfortable with 2D tools, such as Photoshop. Experience with VR devices and a basic understanding of modern GPU technology and 3D graphics programming is a plus.

You have good traditional skills in drawing, painting or sculpting and solid understanding of lighting, color, and composition. You should have good written and spoken English.

Yours is a creative role so we'll give you the flexibility to choose the hours that bring out your best. We work in small, self-managed teams that control their own tasks. You'll enjoy a great deal of autonomy and responsibility while making a significant and visible contribution to our benchmarks.

You'll work with equally talented artists, programmers and engineers who will inspire and motivate you. We have height-adjustable, standing desks, for those that want them. There's a gym for working out and in-house massage for winding down.

This is a full-time, permanent position with the opportunity to develop into a lead role.
